The parliamentary group of The Revival Party announced that it had received information from partners in Brussels about a secret visit of representatives of the International Monetary Fund in Bulgaria. According to Kostadin Kostadinov, the purpose of the visit is to manipulate budget data by falsifying the deficit on an accrued basis for the last quarter of 2025.

„Revival claims that a draft budget for 2025 is being prepared with artificially improved parameters to meet the Maastricht deficit criteria, similar to the “Greek model. On the first working day after the alert Kostadin Kostadinov and six other MPs from „Revival“ visited the Bulgarian National Bank with a request for a meeting with the IMF representatives.

However, the Governor of the Bulgarian National Bank refused the meeting, which, according to the party, confirms the credibility of the information about the visit. According to Kostadinov, with this refusal the BNB Governor violated the Constitution of the Republic of Bulgaria.

“Revival” announced that it would send an official request to Kristalina Georgieva asking for a meeting with IMF representatives. The party will submit a request to the president of the National Assembly for a hearing of the BNB governor to be included as the first item on Wednesday’s agenda.

“Revival” calls on journalists to seek information from the BNB Governor regarding the visit of the IMF representatives. According to the party, the IMF has an office at the BNB that monitors the bank’s activities, but without clear information on what exactly its role is.

The development of the case will show whether there will be an official response from the BNB and the IMF.
