Tensions and another scandal during today’s parliamentary blitz control in the National Assembly.
Vazrazhdane MP Tsoncho Ganev asked the government if the Nuclear Regulatory Agency and the International Association for Accidents at Kozloduy Nuclear Power Plant, where he said there was a fire, were informed. Deputy Prime Minister Asen Vassilev replied that this was a matter for the Minister of Energy. However, he explained that the NRA was with him and had not received a report on such a thing. Vassilev pointed out that in such a serious incident he should be informed. He added:
“I don’t think there is anything serious to be informed about.”
The Vazrazhdane MP pointed out that he expected the incident to be covered up and saw sharp remarks.
“He has the necessary documents. „There has been such an incident and it is covered up”, he stressed.
Victoria Vasileva from “There is such a people” also intervened during the debate. She turned to her colleagues from Vazrazhdane:
“Mr President, you cannot know whether outright nonsense is being said. What Tsoncho Ganev did borders on a crime. You have no idea what you are talking about at all. Get your hands off the nuclear power plant and stop talking such nonsense.”
Dragomir Stoynev, Deputy Chairman of the BSP for Bulgaria parliamentary group, explained the situation from the parliamentary rostrum:
“A while ago, an attempt was made by Ataka, sorry, “Vazrazhdane” to spread panic among the Bulgarian people. I contacted Kozloduy NPP and there was smoke in connection with lubrication of thermal insulation. There was no interruption in the work and no such big incident as the one in question.”
Stoynev insisted that this practice to be stopped and called on the Speaker of the National Assembly to impose the most severe punishment for causing panic in society. According to him, the Vazrazhdane MPs used the lie to extract political dividends. According to him, these are people who use the rostrum to play with the fear of the citizens.
The leader of “Vazrazhdane” Kostadin Kostadinov ended the dispute – he assured from the rostrum in the National Assembly that there are documents about the accident at Kozloduy NPP and this will be clarified next week.
