The Bulgarian Association of Restaurants and the Association of Restaurants in Bulgaria express their sincere indignation at the increase in VAT on soft drinks from 9 to 20%.
We consider this a targeted blow to our industry and Bulgarian tourism in general, say in their position industry. In technical terms, „the sector most affected by the pandemic and now by the war in Ukraine, the sector is once again involved in genocide. This is the „democratic“ answer to our intention to seek our rights and participate in the protests organized by employers! And, although the tolerance shown by the Tourism sector and the patience with which we canceled our participation in the protests to hear the current package of economic measures, our government „rewarded“ us with another blow to the already most difficult to recover from the business pandemic“.
We publish the entire content of the open letter of the Bulgarian Association of Restaurants and the Association of Restaurants in Bulgaria without an editorial title:
„We sought an answer to the only logical question – „WHY?“ And the reason for this was not announced directly in an informal conversation by the official source, who wished everyone not to quote him again, namely – „Whoever raises his head against the government, will be trampled with praise!“.
The truth is this – they are hitting us because we do not turn our heads before the insolvency of those in power, because we seek our rights and point out our mistakes.
It is already clear to us WHAT you are reaching for the announced the most effective measure to help businesses – reduced VAT! In the middle of the years, in the middle of the summer season, in the middle of bills, estimates and pricing…
We have repeatedly prayed, since there is no help, at least not to be hindered. Well, we don’t mind!
For the last 2 years we have been closed for more than 8 months, and the rest of the time we worked with severe restrictions. And this government, led by supposed economists and financiers, clearly shows that it is impossible to restore the industry after such a crisis with a magic wand. Or rather, he understands it, but it is already clear to us that their reasons are purposefully crushing us.
Guided by the above, we consider it a mistake that we have trusted the government that there will be economic measures that will help us too! They lied to us! Again!
Ladies and gentlemen, we hope you have read the tale of the lying shepherd. You can lie once or twice, but you can’t expect trust indefinitely. And our trust is over! ”
