The Bulgarian Association of Restaurants (BAZ) and the Association of Restaurants in Bulgaria (SZB) sent an open letter to the government, in which they share their bewilderment at the decision of the Bulgarian government to leave the most highly vaccinated part of the population unemployed. Namely – the workers in the sectors for which the requirement for a „Green Certificate“ has been in force for months.
„We really miss this logic – to oblige workers in a sector to be vaccinated, then to tell them that it made no sense and to close them, limit and leave them without a livelihood, for us, for our customers and for society. is absolutely wrong, harmful, illogical and even anti-vaccine! ”
Both associations are asking if they will be able to remove the „Green Certificate“ for 60% of those vaccinated, because they estimate that 8 out of 10 people in their sector are vaccinated. And they ask: „Doesn’t that make 80% ?!“
„After the introduction of the Green Certificate, the majority of employees in our sector were vaccinated, which significantly increased the average percentage for the country. Now they are about to be restricted again in their right to work at the expense of many areas in which a „Green Certificate“ is not required and very few people are vaccinated. This is another repulsion of Bulgarians from the vaccination process! „
With their actions, the Bulgarian authorities hit not only the establishments, but also the event activities and numerous organized concerts and events for which tickets were sold, BAZ and SZB point out and emphasize that it is a wide network of artists, performers, technical teams. security guards, advertising agencies, transport companies, cleaning companies, etc.
„And we would like to remind you that despite the belated decisions for a“ green certificate „in the National Assembly, the Council of Ministers, the state and municipal administration, at one point a date appeared on January 24, when it is valid for at least some of them. This is tomorrow. We are asking for an answer – is it being introduced from tomorrow and where exactly?
The associations also commented on the presented several health plans: „Their logic and effectiveness is not within our competence, although we have reasonable doubts about their rights. But no workable business support measures were presented. Everything we’ve seen so far has been badly reworked with the obvious aim of not being able to take advantage of it due to unbearable conditions.“
