President Rumen Radev does not envisage postponing the parliamentary elections. They are to be held in March 2021, but their date has not yet been set by the head of state.
The President expressed the expectation that the responsible institutions would create the necessary preconditions for the normal course of the election process.
Earlier, Central Election Commission spokeswoman Tanya Tsaneva commented that it was the head of state who could postpone the vote. According to her, the Constitution allows this to be done in two months. Thus, the elections can be held until May 2021.
Tsaneva also explained that if the situation with the quarantined Bulgarians continues to be the same, legislative changes should be adopted so that they can also exercise their right to vote. Currently, mobile urns are only intended for people with permanent disabilities.
