At exactly 11:00 a.m. on „Dondukov“ 2, President Rumen Radev handed the second mandate to form a government to the candidate for Prime Minister, broadcast by „We continue the change“. This is Academician Nikolay Denkov, who held the position of Minister of Education in several previous cabinets, including that of „We continue the change“.
„We continue the change“ was given the mandate to form a regular cabinet by law as the second political force in the 48th National Assembly. This came after the failure of GERB-SDS in their attempt to form a government. They broadcast the neurosurgeon from „Pirogov“ Prof. Nikolay Gabrovski as the Prime Minister. Quite expectedly, he failed to gather the necessary support in the parliament to become Prime Minister, nor did his proposed composition of the Council of Ministers.
So now the task of forming a government will be taken up by „We continue the change“. They have already announced that they will offer a cabinet to the minority together with „Democratic Bulgaria“. Academician Nikolay Denkov was chosen as a candidate for Prime Minister as a consensus figure with undeniable dialogicity. He made a request that he wanted to first achieve unification around priorities and then talk about specific names of ministers.
„We continue the change“ has already held two rounds of talks to form a government. Democratic Bulgaria, BSP and Bulgarian Rise responded to them.
Today, during the handing over of the second mandate of „Dondukov“ 2, the head of state Rumen Radev addressed Academician Nikolay Denkov with the words:
„I believe you will use the time in the coming week to seek support from other political forces and return with a mandate.“
“I accept this second mandate with the clear awareness that the task is extremely difficult. However, we are convinced that we must do everything necessary to form a government. Problems have piled up and we need a government to solve their problems. That is why we have changed the approach to the implementation of this mandate. We have defined four national goals that we believe unite the people and the organizations they represent. In the discussion of these goals and the activities for their implementation, three formations were involved – „Democratic Bulgaria“, BSP and „Bulgarian Rise“. I very much hope that other political forces will also join this process, because we need it. The prepared declaration will be submitted as a draft decision to the National Assembly with the idea that it should support national priorities. If this project receives support, we will return the mandate with a list of members of the Council of Ministers. If he does not get support, it means that there is no support for these values in the National Assembly. I hope that the coming days will be filled with reason”, said Academician Nikolay Denkov.
