On February 7, in the University Hospital „Pirogov“ and „Aleksandrovska“ University Hospital, the people of the second and third phases were immunized against COVID-19. The third phase of the vaccination plan began with the vaccination of employees from key industries. The Director of the Executive agency for medicines Bogdan Kirilov commented to “Btv”:
„Employees of the central, district and sectional election commissions will be included. The government has provided doses to anyone interested in these structures so as to ensure a safe election process.“
However, representatives of the Central Election Commission learned from the media that they should have been vaccinated. The spokesperson of the commission, Tanya Tsaneva, believes that the logistics in the regions will be very difficult for the vaccination of the members of the election commissions. According to her, there is no possibility according to the schedule to make an earlier appointment of the members of the section commissions. She explained:
„Parties can look for members who have been ill or have already been vaccinated.“
Tsaneva clarified that the logistics itself will be difficult and sophisticated, because we are talking about many people – about 100,000 people. According to her, everything depends on the disease curve. The CEC spokesman expects a health protocol from the authorities that will determine the steps of election day. She indicated that he would determine whether the members of the mobile sections would be equipped. Separately, they demanded from the mayors and district governors information about the sections with over 300 voters, where voting machines will be placed and about the estimated number of mobile sections. Tsaneva explained:
„In this way it will be possible to make some prognosis and steps to solve the problem with the quarantined citizens. Practice shows that a mobile section can serve about 25-30 addresses.”
