The government has allocated BGN 100 million for the American F-16 Block 70 fighters. This was announced by the Prime Minister Boiko Borissov in his profile on the social network Facebook.
He explained that the funds are intended to provide the necessary infrastructure for the take-off and landing of multi-purpose aircraft. This infrastructure will also be used by the existing combat aircraft in the Air Force.
“The modernization of the Armed Forces is a key long-term priority for Bulgaria. The contracts for the supply of F-16 Block 70 aircraft are not only an important part of it, but also provide industrial cooperation, which will contribute to the long-term economic development of Bulgaria and the competitiveness of our country in this area.“
During the government session, the Prime Minister stressed that all members of the Council of Ministers will support the allocation of the amount of BGN 100 million, because this is a geostrategic deal that was made with the US Cabinet for the purchase of aircraft.
