The management of the Ministry of Transport and Communications /MTC/ is evidently rushing to appoint a new General Director of the State Enterprise „Port Infrastructure“ /SEPI/.

On Monday, around 3:00 p.m., the MTC unexpectedly published on its website the list of candidates admitted to the oral examination. The three candidates are Ivaylo Ivanov, Georgi Sabev, and Diyan Dimov. This announcement came just a few hours after it was confirmed that a new caretaker government would not be appointed.

Ivaylo Ivanov is currently serving as the acting General Director of SEPI after caretaker Transport Minister Georgi Gvozdeikov removed Dirk Pergot from the position. According to Gvozdeykov, the two parted amicably—a claim that is difficult to verify since Pergot remained silent on the matter, including in communications with our media outlet.

The situation becomes even more intriguing after it was revealed that Georgi Gvozdeykov is not included as Transport Minister in the list of nominees for caretaker Prime Minister Goritsa Grancharova-Kozhareva. One of his current deputies was set to take his place. Of course, the next nominee for caretaker Prime Minister could choose to keep him in the position, but this remains speculative at this point.

At the same time, amid this uncertain situation in the country and within the Ministry of Transport itself, the new General Director of SEPI is set to be appointed for a full term of 5 years. While the new minister could remove them from the position, the director would have the right to appeal, and the court could easily rule the dismissal as unlawful, leading to their reinstatement.

Moreover, the competition for the new General Director of SEPI is overseen by Deputy Minister Anna Natova, who until now has been an employee and director of a department within the same enterprise and is currently on unpaid leave. In effect, she is in the position of selecting her own future superior if she does not continue to hold a high-ranking position within the ministry.

We are yet to find out, and it is particularly interesting to note, when exactly the oral examination of the candidates for the new General Director of the State Enterprise „Port Infrastructure“ will take place. Iskra.bg will continue to monitor the case and keep you informed about the developments surrounding the selection of the new head of the institution.

Mass dismissals in the State Enterprise „Port Infrastructure“? What is behind the personnel changes?
