The head of the Godech police station abused his official position by using a police jeep as a personal one. Chief Inspector Hristo Krastev lives in the capital and has traveled by police car to Godech and back every day for several months. In this way, he covered the distance of 100 km every day with official petrol. Fuel consumption is at least 200 liters of gasoline per month or about BGN 500 from the pockets of taxpayers.
One of the police officers working in the District Administration commented that the abuse was committed while the patrol cars were constantly running out of fuel.
„I’m a police officer for 25 years in a regional office in the city GODECH AND YOU sought THAT OUR HEAD AT THE MOMENT since he was appointed – of around 5- 6 MONTHS TRAVELS an official car here EVERY DAY AND BACK – FROM GODECH Sofia. THIS IS EVERY DAY. WITH A LENGTH OF 100 KM. CALCULATE HOW MUCH IT COMES OUT PER MONTH. THIS IS A SUV WITH HIGH OFF-ROUNDABILITY, WHICH GIVES ON AVERAGE ABOUT 10 LITERS CONSUMPTION.“
The policeman says that this irritates him and his colleagues, because they have to write requests for additional fuel to the ODMVR-Sofia every month. He cannot say who allowed Ch. Inspector Krastev to use the official car as a personal one. According to unconfirmed information, however, he was approached by the director of ODMVR-Sofia and was also appointed by him.
„He leaves his car on Friday. Instead of us serving us when we need an off-road vehicle or someone breaks down. On Friday, Saturday and Sunday, the car in question is not in the Godech District Office.“
So far, no chief has allowed himself to do such a thing, the employee is adamant, adding that there are other colleagues from Sofia who travel in their personal cars. He gave the example of their previous boss, who was also from Sofia, but traveled in his personal car.
The TV crew checked the words of the policeman. Between December 1 and 20, on six different days, journalists found that every night Chief Inspector Hristo Krastev left the Godech District Office in his official car, drove 50 km and parked it in Bozhurishte, where he boarded his personal car near a police station. car and go home. Around 07:00 in the morning he reappeared, parked his personal car, got on the official car and left for Godech.
For the seventh time, the journalistic team followed him, this time asking him:
„Mr. Krastev, how are you? We drove after you from Bozhurishte, Sofia here. Several times we filmed you traveling in a company car, petrol from Sofia to Godech. 100 km per day. You come to work in the official state car, petrol paid for by my taxes. Is this normal? Is it moral?“
And the answer was:
„I can’t answer these questions now. I can’t answer these questions now.“
Chief Inspector Krastev said he had permission to use the official car and declined to comment. He did not respond to the statement that he is the person who has to fight crime and irregularities every day, as the head of this district.
In the evening after the interview, the police jeep stayed and spent the night in front of the Godech District. From then until now, the chief travels and comes in his personal car like the other employees from Sofia. As this is a serious violation of the rules in the system of the Ministry of Interior, from internal sources in Godech and ODMI it is clear that after the interview with the chief attempts are made to justify his actions – by drawing up various documents retroactively.
