The chiefs of 7 metropolitan police departments will be replaced after the inspections provoked by the cases with Georgi Semerdzhiev and the “Ring Road” accident, stated the Minister of Internal Affairs Ivan Demerdzhiev. According to him, the personnel who will be replaced did not provide protection in these cases, but they did not take actions to prevent them either.
“The people we are going to replace didn’t act as an umbrella over anyone, but they also didn’t exercise the necessary control, they didn’t establish actions that wouldn’t lead to a case like the one with Georgi Semerdzhiev and like the other case with the Okolovrastno disaster”, clarified Minister Demerdzhiev.
The castings cover the Second District, Third District, Fourth District, Fifth District, Sixth District, Seventh District and Eighth District. The new chiefs were elected following a proposal by the general secretary Petar Todorov. There will also be a change in ODMVR-Kyustendil, as it is planned that he will be taken over by the current deputy director.
Demerdzhiev stated that senior commissioner Svetoslav Grigorov had grossly violated the rules and allowed himself to lie to him. He added that during the pre-election period, Commissioner Grigorov met with “sufficiently high-ranking” representatives of GERB.
