Bulgarian citizens should be calm – at the moment there is no need to tighten the measures or impose new ones. The only thing we will continue to do is control the observance of the measures – such as they are at the moment. This was announced by the Minister of Health Prof. Kostadin Angelov during the briefing of the National Operational Headquarters. According to him, there are currently 1,033 cases of patients with COVID-19 who are hospitalized. 53 of them are in intensive care units.
„The number of beds by areas for therapeutic treatment of patients with coronavirus infection is 7307, the number of beds for coronavirus treatment of patients in need of intensive care is 1108. The bed occupancy as of October 7 of patients in need of conservative treatment was 14%, and the bed occupancy of patients in need of intensive care was 5%. At the previous briefing they were 10%, at the beginning of the week they were 11%, and now they are 14%. At the beginning of the week, the intensive care beds were 4.8%. The number of intensive care beds for the whole period is 5%. That is, there is no significant increase in hospitalized patients.“
The number of medical staff with positive results for COVID-19 is increasing, the Minister of Health reported. According to him, since the beginning of the pandemic there have been 1263 positive medics with coronavirus infection, and the active cases as of October 8 have been 278, with 229 of them – on home treatment, 43 – in hospitals, and 6 patients – in intensive care units.
101 children from kindergartens and schools tested positive for coronavirus as of October 8, with 3268 quarantined. The total number of teachers in kindergartens and schools with coronavirus is 133, and 119 are under quarantine.
„Per 1000 classes in school – 3 are quarantined and do not go to school. We have low morbidity rates among students and teachers.“
According to the data of the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control, based on the last 14 days, Bulgaria ranks 24th in terms of morbidity with 43.19% per 100,000 people and seventh in terms of mortality with 1.19 per 100,000, added Assoc. Angel Kunchev.
