President Rumen Radev was adamant that he would not demand resignations in the National Security Service system over the snowball throwing of Prime Minister Kiril Petkov at the Shipka Monument during the March 3 celebrations, which Iskra.bg reported to you. The Head of State was adamant in front of journalists that in this case there was no security breach, but a „common sense breach„.
„It is not the job of the NSO, it is not the job of the State Agency for National Security or the Ministry of Interior to shovel snow in front of the Prime Minister. Their job is to warn him of possible provocations and to ensure his security. They did so and received thanks from the Prime Minister. It is not the job of ministers to evaluate the work of services, especially when they are outside their remit. The ministers’ job is to fight effectively, especially the severe economic and social crisis, to create conditions for sustainable economic growth, which all Bulgarians expect. I hope that this attack on the security services is not an attempt to politicize them. We know that until a year ago this was a practice and I strongly hope that the government will not follow this vicious path rejected by society.“, the President said.
When asked by journalists about the allegations of leader of the “Vazrazhdane” political party Kostadin Kostadinov, that the Bulgarian services had submitted information that led to a 10-year ban on entering Ukraine, Radev replied:
„Let us remember that it is not by chance that the heads of the services are in office. You can’t imagine that a new government needs to replace its security services. This means that these services work for the government, but not for Bulgaria, especially in the field of corruption. I don’t want to think that there are people in Parliament who are worried that some sensitive information may become available to the President.„
Radev also pointed out that the problems were not limited to iodine tablets and the like. The problem was the lack of a unified strategy for national crisis management. The President pointed out, among other things, the institutions and the people who need to manage these crises.
„This is a system that has been neglected for decades and now we are making headquarters on the 10th day of the refugee wave. Therefore, I expect from the line ministers, institutions, from the legislator vigorous measures to create such a unified national system of crisis management, to implement all these measures that we outlined at this meeting with me.“, said the Head of State.
