Prime Minister Kiril Petkov will resign from the government on Monday morning so that the procedure for handing over the mandate will be activated.
„There is no problem, we will fill in the documents immediately and submit them,“ Petkov said in response to a journalist’s question.
The Prime Minister shared what happened this morning in Brussels: „We had very difficult talks. What was seen was that there was a terrible expectation that Bulgaria would lift the veto, but I made it clear what I said this morning. I made it clear that this is a decision of the Bulgarian Parliament, I alone, nor the government will not change the Bulgarian position.„
The second thing that has happened is that some of the requirements related to the French proposal are very difficult for the Republic of North Macedonia (RNM) to accept, but what has become clear is that these are not just Sofia’s demands, and this must be Europe’s demands.
It is important for the National Assembly to discuss and make decisions on the thesis, as well as the deputies from „We continue the Change“ are now sitting in committee, Petkov noted. Then the difficult task will be for the RNM, which will have to accept our requirements to move forward.
Petkov pointed out that a coalition between „We continue the Change“ and Toshko Yordanov, Slavi Trifonov, Boyko Borissov is not possible.
„We realized they were part of the backstage we were fighting against. So we will not compromise. Kostadinov’s five demands are also absolutely unacceptable. Delyan Peevski, who appeared for the first time in 6 months to press the no-confidence vote, cannot be our partner either. We are left with the opportunities for the partners we have, plus all the independent MPs who want to support the policy of this government.“
