„No one is above the law! This is the most important prerequisite for a democratic state. However, it is impossible when the judicial system is selectively „just“ – only for the interests of certain people and circles of influence.“
This is what outgoing Prime Minister Kiril Petkov wrote on Facebook. His post continues as follows:
„Today, however, we are one step closer to a truly fair judicial system – today Minister of Justice Mrs. Nadezhda Yordanova, presented the finished bill for seeking criminal responsibility of the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Bulgaria!
Since 2009, the European institutions have consistently criticized Bulgaria because of the „objective impossibility“ and de facto irresponsibility and impunity of the Prosecutor General. Several parliaments under three Borisov governments conveniently did not seek a solution to this problem.
During the seven months of our administration, significant revelations and actions against corruption schemes affecting the lives and health of hundreds of thousands of citizens did not even attract the attention of the Prosecutor General – there are no cases.
Today, however, we about to change that and give guarantees for a better life in Bulgaria, so that people feel protected by the law, regardless of everything and everyone.„
