Two weeks after the introduction of the Green Certificate, 94% of the restaurant industry is brought to its knees. The conditions of its introduction, having nothing to do with what was promised by the caretaker government to the business, have already forced thousands of owners across the country to close their sites, write in their position the Society of restaurants in Bulgaria and the Bulgarian Association of Restaurants.
They recalled that „facing the dilemma of a no-compensation lockdown or the unprecedented introduction of a Green Certificate in 20% of those vaccinated, more than two-thirds of businesses chose the lesser evil in a national poll. But! Only under conditions determined by the business.“
In their position, the branch officials reminded what their requirements were:
- Issuance of certificates in case of a positive antibody test.
- FREE tests, not tests that cost BGN 10.
- Requirement of „Green Certificates“ for all commercial establishments, government and municipal employees.
- Green certificates should be valid ONLY when our country is in a dark red zone of morbidity.
- Solving problems with people who, due to concomitant diseases, are not advised to have the vaccine.
We are publishing the rest of the letter from the organizations without editorial intervention:
„What happened afterwards? What happened after the promises? An order was issued in which none of the above five points were present in it! Not one! That’s a lie…!
Protests followed in more than 25 cities, attended by thousands to try to show that the order needed to be changed. There was no reaction after them. We only hear „Next week we will decide“. And so until next week, when we hear the same thing again. If we could say the same about all costs – electricity, water, rents, salaries, insurance, fees, taxes, maintenance and more. we may wait for „next week“, but now we can’t! We can not!!!
That is why we insist on urgent actions by the state. We are not interested in your political games and populism. We don’t care how afraid you are to make one decision or another that you know is right, but you have no personal interest. You have five performance points. Three of them on a lottery to draw will save thousands of people employed in the tourism sector. We expect actions, ladies and gentlemen, not another beating of the ball. And if we have a mechanism to oppose you – yes, we can protest again. Probably in a different form, because „walking in the center“ does not seem to work, and in your eyes they are not a threat. Will we do it now – no, no. We will not organize a single protest a week before the election, because you will again say that it is political. And do you know how this sounds in the ears of the owner of a bankrupt restaurant? Do you know how this sounds in the ears of a bartender, waiter, cook…? Cynical, of course! Never again allow yourself to classify business protests, protests with specific economic demands, as political.
So: STOP MAKINF FUN OF US AND ACT! NOW! BECAUSE TOMORROW WILL BE LATE!“
