The Socialists from Plovdiv do not agree with the expulsion of Georgi Gergov from the BSP. They went to the BSP headquarters in Sofia to submit their position and request a meeting with leader Cornelia Ninova. However, she was not in the building, the party headquarters said, from where they did not allow their party members to enter.
However, the Plovdiv members of the BSP commented that they had seen the number of them from the upper floors of the headquarters. The Plovdiv structure believes that the decision of the National Council of the party to expel Gergov is illegitimate. According to MP Georgi Tarnovaliyski, it is unconstitutional and the members of the National Assembly have been misled. He clarified that Gergov’s expulsion could only be considered by the primary party organization in Plovdiv. Tarnovaliyski reminded that he has not been a member of the National Assembly since December 18.
„This is repression, this is pressure, a blow not only against the person of Georgi Gergov.“
Guergov is a proven politician and businessman who is very respected, added Tarnovaliyski and continued:
„Since they are powerless, one of the reasons for his expulsion is that Gergov has a different opinion from the party leadership. This is a basic principle in democracy, but also in the party. We will not let the party be destroyed. „
„Instead of fighting the battle with GERB today, we are here, in front of our headquarters, in front of our home…“
The Plovdiv Socialists claim that this is a „war for the leaves“ in the city under the hills before the parliamentary vote. They shared that they did not have the opportunity to ask their questions and will wait in front of „Positano“ 20 until they meet with Ninova. For her part, she wrote in her Facebook post that the reform of the BSP continues.
In the end, the Plovdiv Socialists recorded a video address for Ninova and left Positano 20, „so as not to be humiliated anymore“.
