The World Bank’s office in Bulgaria firmly denied to Iskra.bg the information circulating on the Internet that the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) would lend „Insa Oil“ for the purchase of the refinery in Burgas.
As Iskra.bg reported yesterday, this information was dismissed as false by a sales representative of „Insa Oil“ itself.
„The International Bank for Reconstruction and Development is that institution of the World Bank group whose main clients are governments, which means that this bank cannot lend to a private company. The International Finance Corporation is the institution of the World Bank group that provides financing to the private sector,“, Ivelina Taushanova, who is the Public Relations Officer of the World Bank office in Bulgaria, told Iskra.bg. She was adamant:
„Neither of these two institutions has a similar operation with the mentioned Bulgarian company!“ This information is false!’
The article circulating on the Internet claims that the EBRD will grant „Insa Oil“ the sum of 100 million euros. While the expectations are – if the Russian company „Lukoil“ decides to sell its refinery in Burgas, the amount will be between 7 and 9 billion dollars according to various unofficial estimates.
