Another financial aid supporting medium-sized enterprises is underway, but efforts are being made for it to „not be of greater value than those for which money will be returned,“ Deputy Prime Minister Tomislav Donchev told NOVA TV.
The new measure will be worth around BGN 170 million, but it will be much more focused than the existing aid for small and medium-sized businesses. The idea would be to support only companies with the potential to grow in order to be fair to taxpayers. Donchev stressed that there is no way to support all businesses.
The Deputy Prime Minister recalled that the program for small and medium-sized businesses is already planned to finance between 15,000 and 20,000 enterprises with the sum of BGN 3 000 to BGN 10 000. The total funds allocated for it are BGN 173 million.
Under the measure 60/40 the expenditure will also be about BGN 1.5 billion with the possibility to be „improved or extended„.
Donchev considers the statement of the Head of State not to support „offshore companies“ as reasonable, emphasizing the need for transparency accompanying public funding. The ambiguity of the owners of such businesses does not allow them to be included in the budget.
The Deputy Prime Minister looks at things for the long term and says that when giving money to Bulgarian taxpayers, one has to think 10 years ahead in order to prioritize properly.
Concerning the tensions between Dondukov 1 and Dondukov 2, Donchev commented that it would be better if the two sides fought together in the current difficult situation and emphasized the danger of „political deafness“ for the people in power.
