“I feel like I don’t live in Tsarevo, but in the Wild West! Some guy with a bat beating me because some people think a parking lot is theirs because they ran it for no money years ago.”
This is what Ivan Valchev, who is a tenant of a parking lot in Tsarevo, told Iskra.bg. Yesterday he was attacked by a man with a bat in broad daylight in front of many passers-by in the resort town.
The incident took place shortly before 5:00 p.m. yesterday, when Ivan Valchev received a call from his worker that a man had come to the site and was insulting and threatening him.
“The man in question is called Evgeni and he warned him to get out of there, insulting him and even threatening him with death. I immediately called 112 and went to the place to check what was going on. While talking to a customer, I was attacked in the back by Evgeny, who was holding a wooden club-like object. He hit me several times on the head, shoulders, back and arms, and I only managed to step back to protect myself.”
Ivan Valchev said that 7-8 people were present at the scene, who tried to intervene and the attacker ran away. An immediate call to 112 followed, and all the witnesses, some of whom are tourists from other cities, voluntarily decided to testify before the law enforcement authorities so that the truth could prevail.
“Today I took a medical from ‘Forensic Medicine’, it is expected to see if the file will be pre-trial or if I will have to try it in a civil case.”
Ivan Valchev also shared details related to the parking lot itself, which became the cause of the discord and the attempted physical assault. According to him, he won it at a legal auction, paying the sum of BGN 6,500 without VAT for it, which is many times more than what was given in the past by the previous tenants.
Valchev explained that until now the object was managed by the businessman Tashko, for whom Evgeni worked. Yesterday was practically the first working day for paid parking, and the assailant’s visit was most likely aimed at thwarting him and forcing Valchev to give up his legitimate business.
