Heating in January will be 70% more expensive if there are no compensations. This was warned by the chairman of the Association of Industrial Capital in Bulgaria Vasil Velev. He warned that a bomb is currently ticking, which will explode just after the New Year, and it is with the prices of heat and hot water.
Velev explained that the prices set by the Energy and Water Regulatory Commission are based on BGN 48 per megawatt-hour value of natural gas, and currently it is BGN 93. Therefore, he proposed as a solution to compensate for district heating, because otherwise EWRC will drastically increase the value of heating and hot water.
He is of the opinion that energy prices require immediate measures. He pointed out that today the electricity costs BGN 500 per megawatt-hour, and many companies have already been closed. If before the companies paid BGN 30,000 per month, now they pay BGN 100,000. At the same time, the huge losses that the industry suffers are in fact huge profits for the energy sector. All this money was stored at Kozloduy NPP and other producers.
According to Vasil Velchev, the envisaged compensations are insufficient, and for December there are none at all. Therefore, the caretaker government must continue to give them and even increase them. Velev insisted that the business receive 3/4 of the difference between the stock exchange price and the EWRC forecast, which is BGN 270.
For his part, CITUB leader Plamen Dimitrov insisted on a second update of the state budget for 2021.
