“Lukoil” announced that it does not rule out the possibility of selling its assets in Bulgaria. Finance Minister Asen Vasilev’s comment was not too late either. He told reporters:

“I’m glad they’ve officially announced this. As you know, we had advance information that this process had already started at the end of September – beginning of October.”

According to him, every company has the opportunity and the right to decide where to operate and what to do with its own assets.

“From the point of view of the Bulgarian government, we must ensure through our representative, who is in the company, that it will continue to operate the refinery if possible with a strategic investor and that the Bulgarian interest will be protected”, explained the finance minister. When asked if there is a risk that the country will run out of fuel, Vasilev indicated that there is no such risk, adding:

“If you want to sell something, you want it to be profitable and work.”

With the help of international consultants, Lukoil will decide what their strategy will be in the future and explain the need for this by adopting discriminatory laws and unfair and biased political decisions.
