„We all know that the prosecutor’s office and the Interior Ministry are Peevski’s. Unfortunately, he has taken control of 80% of the state. Now it will happen that with less than 1 million votes, he will further consolidate his power. If these people manage to create a stable cabinet that lasts four years, we may find that there is no state left. It will simply be a territory where some people exist and vegetate.“
This was stated by Zvezdelina Karavelova from the „Vazrazhdane“ party at a press conference in connection with the last seventh consecutive parliamentary elections and the party’s performance in the 2nd electoral district – Burgas. According to her, the Ministry of Interior has „slept through“ the vote and has not done its job, and this is evident from the results indicating a bought, manipulated and controlled vote.
„When we consider the results of the two electoral districts in Burgas, they show a difference of about 9,000 votes, which is a 50% increase compared to the previous election results for them.“
Karavelova added that key figures are involved in vote-buying, including municipal councillors and mayors in the area. According to her, it often isn’t even about the Roma vote, as there are hardly any such minorities in places like Nessebar.
„It turned out that at some point Bulgarians became more corrupt than Gypsies.“
According to her, it is even sadder that people who knew there would be significant vote-buying chose not to vote, thus indirectly contributing to the final results.
Boris Aladzhov, for his part, thanked all 325 000 „respectable Bulgarian citizens“ who supported the party at the national elections and especially the 16 533 in Burgas region. He reported that „Vazrazhdane“ is the second political force in 15 regions of Bulgaria, or half of the country. According to him, the result in Burgas region is good and was achieved despite the bought vote.
At the press conference, specific results were cited from Burgas municipalities where the two branches of MRF achieved suspiciously high results. In Sredets, for example, in the previous elections, MRF had 101 votes, while now the two parties have 1,089, with the main results coming from „DPS-New Beginning“ of Delyan Peevski, which received 1,067 votes. In Malko Turnovo, the party had 97 votes in the June elections, which has now increased to 237.
„Yes, Bulgaria“ will request a parliamentary committee to investigate the reports of vote-buying
