“We Continue the Change” issued a position on the third anniversary of the beginning of the war in Ukraine. They are adamant that there must be peace. But it must be just. Ukraine’s territorial integrity and national sovereignty must be restored. Here’s what else Proceed the Change says in their position paper:
“Today marks three years since the beginning of one of the worst tragedies in modern history – the war in Ukraine. A war that brought destruction, suffering and enormous human losses, but also demonstrated the strength of the human spirit, the will for freedom and the importance of solidarity.
“We Continue the Change” expresses its strong support for the Ukrainian people and their struggle for independence, territorial integrity and the right to determine their own future.
We believe that freedom and democracy are fundamental values that cannot and must not be trampled upon. The Ukrainian people have shown the world what it means to defend these values with courage, dignity and determination.
It is vital for Bulgaria’s national security that the world should not again be divided into zones of influence. This practice, which only brings conflict and instability, has no place in the modern world. That is why we are in favour of a strong and united Europe that opposes attempts to impose division, and a strong Ukraine that fights every day not only for its freedom, but also for the security of all of us.
Bulgaria, as a member of the European Union and NATO, must continue to stand firmly behind Ukraine. Continued support is needed to enable Ukraine to resist the aggressor and to recover from this terrible war.
We call on all democratic societies to remain united in their actions and resolute in defending international law. Let us not allow forgetfulness and fatigue to weaken our solidarity.
With deep respect and sympathy, we bow to the victims of this war and express our hope for peace soon. But that peace must be just – based on restoring Ukraine’s territorial integrity and guaranteeing its sovereignty.”
