There are two days left until the “Great People’s Uprising” planned for Wednesday morning. It is scheduled to begin at 08:00, when deputies will enter the National Assembly to discuss the new Constitution. Protesters who have spoken out against the proposed changes will gather in the front square to signal their disagreement.
Iskra.bg mentioned about the “Great People’s Uprising” a few days ago, when the more active preparation for it began.
“We will not allow the mafia to create the basic law of Bulgaria. Come from all over the country. We will stay until the end. We will not leave until they leave power.”
This had been announced then by the Poison Trio as the reason for the morning protest. Their interpretation of the proposed changes to the Constitution is as follows:
- From September, one MP will receive almost 18 minimum wages, but in return you will continue to pay the rent, electricity, heating and water, and they will be free for him.
- Our sons born after 2004 will definitely go to the barracks.
- The former owner of the house of the „mutresata“ in Barcelona is a long-time director of Lukoil and Zlatev’s right hand to this day. The cost of the house and the maintenance of the mafia people are probably included in the price of petrol.
The well-known writer Georgi Gospodinov also expressed his indignation at the proposed changes in the Constitution.
“Don’t take me back 30 years with rumors about a new Constitution and a Grand National Assembly, about barracks and educational qualifications. This is neither new nor great.”
As the covenant day for the „uprising“ approached, numerous events appeared on social media aimed at supporting the protesters’ demands. At the same time, a “complete blockade of the National Assembly” was organized on the square in front of the former Party House, in order for the deputies to “feel the people’s love” during their first regular session after the summer vacation. “The System Kills Us” parents are also calling for an “Occupation of the National Assembly”, for which they are urging people to gather in the morning in front of their tent camp in the square. With a direct prompt “Leave! Immediately!” Several ruling political parties also addressed the ruling party.
We do not accept the replacement that Borissov is trying to launch as a “restart” of the system. No false maneuvers involving parliament in adopting the „Borisov constitution“ and convening the Supreme National Assembly can divert free citizens from the main demands of the protest. We insist on the dissolution of parliament and early elections.
Another group of citizens consider the people responsible for rewriting the Constitution to be incompetent and have symbolically shared the idea of “Mass Writing of a Constitution” in front of the National Assembly during a parliamentary meeting.
The protesters seem strongly motivated to prevent the vote on the changes in the founding law, and in just two days we will see in action the seriousness of their intentions.
