The caretaker Minister of Justice Yanaki Stoilov wants the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office and the Specialized Criminal Court to be closed. He proposes that specialized departments be opened in their place in the five appellate regions of the country. It is they who will hear cases that are currently within the jurisdiction of the Specialized Court.
This practically means that special units will be opened in the capital, Plovdiv, Varna, Burgas and Veliko Tarnovo. Stoilov explained that the purpose of his proposed amendment is to end previous bad practices. In addition, local influence on magistrates’ decisions must end.
As for the cases already in the Specialized Court, they will be heard by it. But the new ones should be included in the five directorates in question in the appellate regions of the country.
Yanaki Stoilov’s project will be submitted to the National Assembly for consideration.

The DB is of the opinion that the specialized justice should be closed, because it has been used so far for pressure from GERB and MRF.
