Burgas Regional Governor Plamen Yanev held a meeting with property owners and residents in 4 villages in Sredets Municipality, where there is an investment intention to build a photovoltaic park. According to the plan, it should occupy an area of 8,200 decares, for which the Municipal Council has decided to change their purpose from arable fields and pastures to areas suitable for the relevant infrastructure. The decision was suspended after the regional governor appealed it to the court.
The discussions in the villages of Svetlina and Dyulevo, where most of the land planned for installation of photovoltaics are located, were held with great interest. Yanev asked to hear from the first person what the concerns of the people are, since the investing company assures that all residents agree, and at the same time he received a signature from nearly 300 people who declare themselves against such an investment.
The people of Orlintsi and Suhodol villages agree to implement the project, but on the condition that a percentage of the amount will be distributed directly to them. Residents of the village of Svetlina expressed many concerns related to the project. According to their information, the village will be surrounded on both sides with photovoltaics, glued to the yards of the houses.
At the meeting in the village of Svetlina, it became clear that the scope of the project includes pastures for which there are long-term contracts and in which a lot of money has been invested for cleaning and maintenance. However, at the end of the meeting, people shared that there are plots of land that are far enough from the village that are not being used, and if the investor decides to build there, they would discuss a similar new proposal.
The residents of the village of Dyulevo said that there was no meeting with the investor and the municipality, and they are not aware of the details of the project. A large part of the locals are engaged in animal husbandry and beekeeping. They fear that with the implementation of the project, the purity of nature will be violated, and people will lose their livelihood.
“It is very important that an investment is as well received by the local population as possible. It should significantly support their lives, not interfere with their livelihood and way of life. The municipality and the investor must achieve greater transparency in this investment intention, adjust the project so that it receives mass approval. And this will benefit both the residents and the investor himself”, said Plamen Yanev.
The regional governor undertook to present other cases to the mayor of Sredets Municipality and to the representatives of “Bulgarian Posts”, namely – poor infrastructure, problems with water supply and garbage collection, as well as for postal services.
